The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto has reiretereted the need for the Federal Government to compliment the efforts of the Government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

He stated this today while playing host to Members of Traditional Rulers Council, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area who were in the Assembly to congratulate him on his assumption of the Office of Speaker.

The Speaker who was flanked by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Victor Edoror, Major Leader. Hon. Roland Asoro, Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje, Hon. Ojo Asein, amongst others, told the traditional Rulers that the Sixth Assembly, in its proactive maners, has recently visited Abuja where they met with the Minister of State Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire who is from Edo State, urging him to liase with his counterpart, the Minister of Works, Housing and Energy, Raji Fashola, on the Need to rehabilitate the deplorable parts of the Benin-Okene-Abuja Highway which has been a nightmare to commuters plying the road.

The Speaker, who thanked the Royal Fathers for their visit, noted that it was a historic one and first of its kind, for traditional rulers to leave their domain to facilitate with Speaker, while assuring them of a good relationship between the Legislature and Executive in the best interest of the people’’ He added; we are ready to key into the state government’s programmes, and the interest of the people must be met first”.

He however, solicited the traditional rulers’ advice and prayers which he believed would help the House in their Legislative business.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Akoko-Edo Traditional Council, Oba Idogu 3rd (JP), the Onokpe of Okpe who said they were in the House on behalf of their subjects in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, thanked Members of the House who deemed it fit to so honour them noting, that it was the first time an Akoko Edo person was emerging Speaker in the Assembly.

According to him, “I know our son will not disappoint the House and Edo State in general.

He will help create a reburst relationship relationship between the Legislative and Executive.
